Spain
Spain offers one of the most authentic and historic hunting experiences in Europe, where centuries of tradition and world-class sport are deeply intertwined. Driven hunts, known as monterías, are the oldest and most iconic form of hunting in the country, delivering thrilling, fast-paced action in a uniquely social and cultural setting that must be experienced to be fully appreciated.
Renowned for its remarkable diversity, Spain is home to more mountain game species than anywhere else in Europe. It is the only country in the world where hunters can pursue all four subspecies of ibex — the Gredos (Capra pyrenaica victoriae), Beceite (Capra pyrenaica hispanica), Ronda (Capra pyrenaica rondeña), and Southeastern (Capra pyrenaica hispanica) — each presenting a distinct and rewarding challenge across some of the most dramatic and rugged mountain terrain on the continent. For the serious collector, completing all four is a pursuit of the highest order.
Spain is also home to two chamois subspecies found nowhere else in the world. The Cantabrian chamois (Rupicapra pyrenaica parva) roams the mountains of northern Spain, while the Pyrenean chamois (Rupicapra pyrenaica pyrenaica) inhabits the high ridges along the French border — both offering superb and challenging high-mountain stalking in spectacular surroundings.
Beyond its mountain game, Spain provides excellent opportunities for red stag, mouflon sheep, and wild boar. For the wing shooting enthusiast, driven red-legged partridge days in Spain are widely regarded as among the finest in the world — combining exceptional volumes, fast and testing birds, and a convivial atmosphere that makes them as much a social occasion as a sporting one.
Rich in heritage, variety, and excitement, Spain is a truly world-class hunting destination that rewards the hunter at every level.
